General Contraindications (Avoid Stretching)

Acute Muscle, Tendon, or Ligament Injuries: – Stretching can aggravate the injury. Recent Fractures or Bone Injuries.

– Increased risk of re-injury or improper healing.

– Severe Osteoporosis has Higher risk of fractures, especially in weight-bearing stretches. Joint Inflammation or Arthritis Flare-Ups

– Stretching may worsen inflammation and pain.

Acute Sciatica or Nerve Compression: – Stretching can increase nerve irritation. Local Contraindications (Avoid Stretching Certain Areas) Sprains, Strains, or Muscle Tears

– Stretching the affected area can worsen the injury. Unhealed Surgical Sites or Scars can Cause Increased risk of opening a wound or damaging tissue.

Inflamed Joints – Especially avoid stretches that put direct stress on these areas.

Herniated Discs – Some stretches may increase pressure on the spine, worsening symptoms.

Medical Conditions (Consult a Physician First)

Hypermobility Syndromes – Stretching can worsen joint instability.
Cardiovascular Conditions – Avoid stretches that could strain the heart, especially in advanced cases.

Chronic Pain Conditions (e.g., Fibromyalgia) – Some stretches may worsen symptoms in sensitive individuals.
Neurological Conditions (e.g., ALS, Multiple Sclerosis) – May affect muscle control, requiring modified stretching.
